Ampair 15kW Wind Turbine (Discontinued)
Ampair 15kW Wind Turbine – this is an independent review for Ampair 15kW Wind Turbine we have compiled for your reference. Feel free to add your comments or experiences at the bottom of the page.
The Ampair 15kW Wind Turbine is the latest addition to the Westwind family. On current sites this wind turbine is proving itself to be a rugged, efficient and cost effective turbine. At present the 15kW turbine is undergoing MCS testing and approval is expected to be granted in the Autumn of 2012
1.Permanent magnet generator incorporating 36 poles with high quality NeFeBr Magnets and industrial grade copper windings.
2.All main shell components hot dipped galvanized or interzinc primed for enhanced corrosion protection.
3.3 Bladed rotor. The blades are manufactured from pultruded Fibreglass to the highest standard.
4.The generator is horizontally mounted with a direct drive and no gearbox thus maximizing efficiency.
5.Over speed protection is by means of passive yaw. A finely tuned well proven mechanical design allows the tail to furl when wind speeds become excessive thus the wind turbine does not need to be attended to when there are periods of high winds and there is no complicated electrical/electronic system to fail.
6.Controller incorporates pulse width modulation voltage clamp with dump load and over volts protection.
7.The generator is test run on our dyno test bench before final assembly to the nacelle.
8.Can easily be connected to local electricity grid, or used for 240V battery charging, heating or a combination. Single, split and three phase grid connections are possible
9.Fully galvanized steel towers with the option of heights 15,18,22m or specials on request. With a gin pole system these masts can be easily raised or lowered.
10.Range of colours to from.
11.Standard 2 years manufacturers parts warranty which covers generator, controller, blades etc. We can also offer an extended insurance backed warranty to 5 years or 10 years for added peace of mind.

Compare power curve with other turbines
Blade diameter is an important thing to look at when comparing turbines, since it effects how much power can be captured from the wind. This turbine has a blade diameter of 6.20 metres.
